Over here in Chinaville this is what they call a Christmas light. Sure they got "normal" lights, but you see more of these red lanterns around then anything else when Christmas rolls around. Now that Christmas is over however most of them have been taken down or stolen, for some reason these things make tempting targets for people to snatch. A few days ago on the news they were showing footage of a hidden camera at a large public square with many trees with red lanterns in them and people were walking by just taking them out of the trees without looking twice. Quite amusing.

On a little side note, people also have (plastic) Christmas trees here which they hang both the regular string lights and little red lanterns on. A sort of cross cultural combination that shows the influences of euro/western world.

fyi, everyone was confused when I put the presents under the tree.

Very nice photo. I like the composition and the small depth of field making the background out of focus.

Which thou owedst yesterday.
