A stranger walks through the streets of an old town, the sounds and smells of a simpler life all around, large dark eyes peek past a door, a childs curious gaze, and in a moment its gone, but its a moment frozen in time.

A person like me sticks out in China, especially in a small town like Gong Tan, an ancient town more then 1700 years old where traditions and a way of life handed down for more then 50 generations. The town, in august, will be yet another town to be drowned under water. The worlds largest dam will claim yet another village, another home, another way of life. The populous will then be relocated to a newly build town and they will start anew. For these people, mostly farmers and the elderly, life will be difficult. This boy will have to learn to live a more complicated life dominated by technology, politics, and progressive ideals.

Lovely portrait. Very nicely composed! He seems to be very curious :)
It must be really eye opening to see the parts of China that you are apparently visiting. I'd love to go there sometime!

In the depths of winter, I finally learned that there was within me an invincible summer.

All that history buried under water is sickening to contemplate. But those people are resourceful. Nice shot.
