The families house with door panels removed exposing the insides to the sunlight, the family goes about its daily business as If nothing is different. The flat stone sitting outside the door is for baking rice cakes, the shelves are lined with jugs of fermented peppers, red paper giving away its contents. I like the circular flower pattern in the middle of their floor which is made of broken ceramic rice bowls pressed into the concrete floor.
Whereabouts did you take it? Looks similar to the countryside I've seen in Guangdong, Southern Hunan, and Guizhou. Didn't get to see much around Chongqing unfortunately.
Great photograph indeed. It's so illustrative of the life of ordinary people - and has an intrinsic simplicity and beauty in it... you're photograph captured that wonderfully!
I really like this photo... It draws me into it, and it kinda reminds me of some old photos of my mom's house in China.. well the house she grew up in that I've seen photos of. I like that everyone is in their own element. I think this is a classic image in China and you've captured it beautifully.. I'm not sure if this would be considered a slum.. or a just a rural family house, whatever it is, this is the kind of upbringing my mom had.. and to me, its touching - very special because it is showing me my mom's heritage and my roots Great job!
