Chinese buildings have a strange way of being abandoned and never taken down until its necessary. Usually people also come and take everything they can out of them while they are abandoned. In a well tucked away school in Chang Shou, many tables and things are still sitting around inside a building that has been devoid of activity for years. Kind of strange, usually tables and glass are carted away by scavengers, but in this place, a lot of the stuff was still around. In this one classroom there was a desk, stool, and even the blackboard had the last days lessons on it.
Some friends and I broke open a classroom window frame so we could get into the building to take some nice black and white photos. There were 5 floors of stuff to look at, including one nasty looking room full of chemicals that we decided to stay out of, and a old roll of film on the ground that showed some sort of school festival from a time before. So yeah, and just to add that "go figure" stuff, after we found our way around we discovered the front gate and door to the place was wide open...go figure.
Canon 20D, Canon 17-40mm f/4 L Lens, 1/60 sec, f/10, ISO 400
yeah, you can change the filters (which I wouldnt call fake, its just the exact same thing a glass filter would do, just digitaly and more controlable) and you can change contrast values, sharpness and a few other assorted tricks that are not related to the black and white function like tweeking the white balance to change white tones
Picture looks great, love the broken pieces one the floor really intensifying that things have been broken and taken. NICE!!!
As I have said before, THANKS for giving us such a nice your of China
Good to see someone else use the BW settings in the cam(I have the 350D), works really great though I havent done much custom settings yet. Had it for a month now so I'm still all aperture and shutter and focus Would love it if you would share some of your BW knowledge sometime, all your BWs are just so perfect in my eyes.

In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
