All these old houses with lots of wooden features makes up a interesting neighborhood near the center of town. Unfortunately the wiring in these areas is pretty shoddy and recently there was a big fire that destroyed many of these houses.

You captured parts of Chongqing that I know exist but have never seen (and it's my hometown too) before; these are truly the essence of culture that they are tearing down. Lovely your street photography!

I don't want to overpraise your work, but the composition has the quality of a painting. In this picture you are looking through the lens (if people still do that) with the eye of an artist. The arrangement of the elements actually looks quite formal. The cat, the pole, the mop, the basket, the figure turned away from us, even the tub under the wooden stairs. And then, set back from all of this, the interesting little kitchen scene with the women preparing and cooking the food. It's a very good photograph...and I particularly like the cat. He looks very clean and white and lithe and he's clearly enjoying himself (as cats do) sharpening his claws on the pole. The environment is clearly made for him and he (with the possible exception of the women) appears to be the happiest one in it.

Oh, and I've just noticed the blue tap sticking out of the wall and the slightly psychedelic splash of colour above it - a curiously surreal touch, given the setting.

Well done^^
