Seems like it was about time for another black and white portrait. This time I decided to post this rather simple photo I took along the side of a road between towns in the Western China grasslands. No big story to go with this one, just that there sure are a lot of people around here that like to smoke.

I think the long pipes they use are pretty neat, even if the smell that comes out of them is horrid. The younger people usually buy cigarettes while the old people grow, dry and roll their own, and some of them just smoke their brown leafy mix in pipes.

This shot just worked for me, the lighting was bright, the background was dark and the details stood out well. Plus the chin up, lots of pride look that he gave me was pretty photogenic.
