In Tibet and Western China, a common site on road sides, fields, or mountain tops is these strips of cloth blowing in the wind. The Buddhists spend months or years adding parts to them, tying strings from a center pole and then to outer ones. The colorful cloth has religious prayers and sayings on them and….and…..well I don’t know. I spent a long time trying to figure out what they are and no one could give me a name, or a direct answer. So this wont be the most informative description ever…about all I can say is that there are a lot of them and they are really neat.
I took this on top of a mountain in the Aba region of Western China around sunset. Sort of a strange effect I got off of this photo due to the film I was using and the time of day where everything seems to shoot a little blue.
