The old town of Zhong Shan, a narrow main street flanked by houses built and rebuilt over the centuries. Now being rebuilt for tourism. Every year this lane has more restaurants, more shops selling the same mass made "cultural" trinkets you can get in any old town, or street side of any touristy spot in any city here. Finding a little bit of the old ways here is not impossible however. Life moves slow, cultural ties rooted deep in a past based on tradition desperately cling to what they know while trying to survive in the modern age.
I know a Zhong Shan (中山) city In the Guangdong Province is it the Place? Nice picture, even if there is now too much of those "fake" old china. But as you said the real China is still there even in a modern city like Guangzhou the traditions and spirit are still alive.
I've featured in my journal , [link]
