On September 16th through the 22nd, the Pingyao International Photography Festival will take place in the ancient city of Pingyao, Shanxi province, China. PIPF is a huge celebration of the art of photography that has attracted the top photographers from all around the world. It's a week of workshops, presentations, lectures, and gallery browsing, all set in the 3000 year old surroundings of Pingyao, a historical city protected for the ages.

This years festival will feature presentations by  Frank Fournier, James Nachtwey, Rene Burri, Danny Lyon, Jae-hyun Seok, and many others from all over the world. Seventeen Chinese art schools will also be attending, along with several photo agencies.

The Chinese art school I am attending, the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, shall be attending with 6 students, myself included, showing their works. We will also be there to talk about our photos along side our peers.

If only I could afford the plane ticket... And the passport application... And prepay the bills before leaving... And find someone to feed the cat... And get rid of all my assignments...

I'd be there in a heartbeat -- sounds freakin' awesome. Will Nachtwey actually be attending, or is it just an exhibition of his work?

Cheers mate

I´m in your soul, in your mind and in your pocket...fine you´re involved;) I´m proud of you and your art - wish they´re too. And I´m sure you can tell them great "stories" about your work - so it´s not so important for me to be with...take the audience.
