Another Update:

Today I installed Opera 8 for some reason and decided to see if it would let me stick anything up, for some reason deviant art works flawlessly here with it, while firefox and explorer cough on its dust. Nice.

Enjoy the new photos!

Now lets see how long this lasts....

PS. The other day I picked up a Canon 50mm f1.4 lens. After two days of using this im convinced that if you are serious about photography in any way at all, a 50mm 1.4 lens is an absolute MUST HAVE. Period.

=========================

Update: for the moment you can see some of my photos (many you have never seen before) here at my Chinese fotoyard site. I am looking at this Pbase thing some more and am probably gona do it, I will still put stuff on deviant art, if it lets me, but in the mean time visit my fotoyard site, which ill be working on some more here in the near future.

-Colin's fotoyard----------> www.Colin.fotoyard.com <----------

(This site does some funky things if you use firefox, for instance there is a nifty fade effect when it switches slides that doest show, it perfers explorer, but you should use firefox anyways ;) )

On the lower left side there are some thumbnails, clicking on one of these will open a slide show, you can then click on of the grey boxes to jump to a slide.

-Warning: If you hit the english version button be prepared for poorly translated chinglish.

-Fotoyard was made by a friend of my friend, its sort of a odd smattering of photographers, mostly chinese, who stick their photo up and look at other peoples stuff. Its free and pretty neat if just a little primative (I still havnt found a delete photo button...). For the moment it will due untill I con my old man into paying for a Pbase subscription since my credit card seems to have got lost in the mail, but then again he pays for everything else I do here, which I probably dont thank him enough for, but yeah, how do you tell your old man "thanks for all the dough"? Hm......

=========================

For some nice reason deviant art barely works anymore for me, links all time out and uploading just doesnt work at all anymore, most of the time I cant even see my own page. Since I dont have any problems at all surfing other sites im led to believe that deviant art just aint what it used to be. I think I need to look for somewhere else to stick my stuff, PBase is a idea, we will see in the near future.

u rock, but I think it's china.

They hate free speech. :-) I agree, DA is hell of hard to post shit to. Freakin' catagories, accept this and that...and it's just too damn slow.

So much for the "it's faster" with a sub.

HAHAHAHA

Someone in the media mentioned something about "the Great Chinese Firewall".
They described it as most sophisticated and flexible content control system.

Maybe that's the problem ?

:heart: 50mm/1.4, but on my 300d it feels a bit wrong.. on my eos-30 it feels just perfect :)

yeah, on my 20D is feels a wee bit long, but absolutly perfect for taking portraits, on my 30V is the near perfect all rounder, a 35mm lens suits me better but the price tag of 3-4 times more does not.

I really really want the 35mm/1.4 for my eos-30 as well, as I know it will be put to good use, but then there's the 24mm/1.4 for about the same price which can also double for landscapes as well as street and indoors.. but too expensive .. yet ;)

But the 50mm/1.4 is an epiphany for street, it's hard to use the 2.8 zoom now :(

yeah, I know I would make such good use of the 35 1.4 too, but its that damn price tag, maybe some day in the future. The 24 lens doesnt interest me very much because I got the 17-40 which is plenty wide for just about everything but its a slow lens, f4.

cough cough choke choke, I put my mamiya 6 online for sale, no takers yet, but if someone does buy it im gona get a 35mm lens, just not a canon, something more....silver, with the word summicron on it and a big red dot next to the initials M6 (TTL) yum......

Have pondered on the 17-40/4L as well, but I am still not decided, I think the slow speed makes it a tripod lens and not a street lens.

Hmm, if I was to get a M6 or M7 I would have it black ;)

I have used the 17-40 on my 20 as a street lens for as long as ive had the 20D, it really likes to be used at iso 400 which is not a problem for the 20D, and I find it to be a nice surprise even when im out shooting 100 speed slides in the 30V, either way I dont regret one moment getting this lens, its a hell of a deal (at least it was here in China) and the image quality really is very good at my perfered appature setting which is 8, at 4 is slightly soft but not really a problem.

Im kinda a stickler for that classic look, I really think my old canon ae1 has to be one of the most beautiful cameras ever made, I love that chrome and black look, so if I got a M6 or M7 I could go for the Chrome body with a Chrome lens probably, not really sure on the lens yet, probably go Chrome.....it so retro and thats what using a leica is all about for me.
