Greetings fellow carbon forms. For the past several months ive been monstrously busy with life so have neglected my online stuff pretty much. I need to get back into it and start writing and posting stuff up again. After my Aba trip I made some other trips and I got thousands of photos sitting around that need to be worked on, that and school, job, and the fact that at this moment I am in America right now visiting. In a few days I will be going back to China and rejoining my girlfriend in Chongqing who I miss terribly and will have to get over my jetlag, see if I still have a job over there (long story, asshole workplace) and develop all my photos that I have taken over here.

Over here in the states I have acquired some new gear including an Voigtlander Bessa R2A (because I couldn't afford an Leica M7 and it was driving me insane), a Voigtlander 35mm 2.5 Pancake II lens (again because I couldn't afford the Leica 35mm f2 Summicron ASPH and it was driving me nuts) and a Leitz (Leica, finally) 50mm f3.5 Elmar red scale (because I couldn't afford the Leica 50mm f1.4 Summilux ASPH, I wont be satisfied until…get the idea?), a Yashica-Mat in mint condition with a odd 75mm Lumaxar lens which I hear is a copy of the Zeiss Tessar , a Argus C3 (to play with), another Kodak pocket camera (for parts), and uh….a lot of other stuff too.

While I was here I did a lot of running around, sold my Canon 30V (just didn't use it anymore) and chopped some wood. This trip renewed my hate for Best Buy and I found that a lot of American food now disgusts me because I can taste the chemicals in it. Something you got to love about the food in China is that it is fresh, and natural. I cant believe how #^$& expensive everything is here!!! Im so glad I don't have to live here. Visiting is fine, living here and I would go nuts. That said I had some good times here, just spent way too much money on normal stuff, not enough on camera stuff.

Btw, if you are ever in the Seattle area, you should go check out Glazer's camera over on 8th av, it's a great shop, hard to find parking but worth a little walk around the block to see the Leica and Hasselblad cases. Bring an extra towel to wipe up the drool.

Ok then, next time I see you I will be in China again. Coming home soon Wangyi!

So when you called I couldn't find your phone number so I couldn't call you. You should have just called my cell, I thought I gave it to you.

Anyways, stay in touch. I've had a few things change since you left. I got my own apartment and Tilt closed so I'm looking for work. Maybe I can find a job that can give me some vacation and you can hook me up with plane tickets bought there (I'd pay you back obviously) so that the tickets would cost less.

Well, keep in touch and crap. Just because you hate the country doesn't mean you have to hate the people you used to like. :P Har har, go me.

Sounds very exciting! I want to travel again so badly.

Chinatown in Toronto(Canada) is pretty decent, and big. I love the food there, and the smell of the open air markets is just soo devine. My mother says its the closest thing to actually being in China, as she has been there. I lived in the US for 7 years and I completely understand what you mean about Best Buy, and the food. I always remember the time I saw a Super Kmart(not just regular Kmart) and was so astonished at its mamoth size. gross. Have a wonderful and safe trip back! :)

I live in America, and I completely agree with you about the food--after visiting China, I have a fresh perspective on food. I hope that you enjoyed your trip otherwise! :)

Hey Col,

Jonathan here (Yes, the Oly one). In B'ham, so if you have the time it would be good to meet (however, not sure if you're in Seattle at this time). Keep up the good work and I'll talk to you later.

I agree with you about the food! I've lived here all my life but it still irritates me - I'm lucky because my mom cooks wonderful, made from scratch food. Though now that I'm out of the house, I have to do everything myself. ; P

And I'm very jealous about all of your camera gear! Have fun with it!

Ugh I know what you mean. I moved with my parents from England to Los Angeles thirteen years ago. Since then I have been back to London and also to Paris, and I come home and almost starve myself because I don't want to eat the food here anymore. In California there are some remaining good food restaurants, but in general... yuk. I'm ready to move out!

Look forward to seeing your new photos!
